His passion for media theory and semiotics characterised his research and publications, which went far beyond the boundaries of classical art history. As a curator and gallery owner, he promoted contemporary art and co-founded the "RAR Gallery" with locations in Berlin, New York and Palo Alto.

Gerhard Charles Rump will be remembered as a visionary and pioneer whose work had a lasting influence on the art world. His ability to make complex theoretical concepts understandable and his tireless dedication to the promotion of art made him a significant figure in the art world. We remember him with gratitude and respect and are inspired by his extensive legacy.
